Universal Child Care Benefit
Supporting Canadian Families
Today Prime Minister Stephen Harper reaffirmed his proven approach to supporting the child care choices of individual Canadian families, through the Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB).
The UCCB, first introduced in 2006 and expanded in 2015, is helping hard-working families make ends meet by putting more money in their pockets to spend on their priorities.
This is an issue I have talked about with many voters in north Calgary.
This week I have knocked on many doors and had the opportunity to hear how the UCCB is helping families across our community. The UCCB provides the following benefits:
- -$160-per-month benefit for children under 6;
- -$60-per-month benefit for children aged 6 through 17; and
- -All families with children – nearly 4 million – are receiving UCCB benefits.
The UCCB is another example of our Party’s proven record of helping Canadians in ways that tangibly improve their lives. If re-elected, I will continue to work hard for Canadian families.
